Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management: Enable fulfillment optimization in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management
Distributed order management (DOM) is being extended to standard sales orders in Supply Chain Management, enabling automatic fulfillment optimization without requiring Commerce module. Admins can configure fulfillment profiles, rules, and warehouse grouping to automate optimal site/warehouse selection for orders.
Microsoft's description
Distributed order management (DOM) can now optimize fulfillment for standard sales orders in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. Previously, DOM was available only for Dynamics 365 Commerce orders. Now you can use the same rules-based fulfillment engine to automatically choose the best site and warehouse for each sales order line, without depending on Commerce or retail configuration. This feature includes: DOM for standard sales orders: Eligible Supply Chain Management sales orders are picked up by the DOM batch job, evaluated against your fulfillment profile, and assigned the optimal site and warehouse. The sales order line is updated automatically. Setup in Supply Chain Management: Configure DOM parameters, fulfillment groups, rules, and fulfillment profiles without the Retail and Commerce module. Fulfillment groups and rules: Group warehouses and apply rules such as location priority, minimum inventory, maximum distance, maximum orders, offline locations, and partial orders. Distance-based sourcing: Use Azure Maps to calculate distances between warehouses and delivery addresses. Fulfillment plans, status, and logs: Review fulfillment plans, DOM run logs, and fulfillment status directly from the sales order. Soft run (simulation): Test fulfillment profiles and see the recommended locations without changing any orders. Warehouse management compatibility: Works with items enabled for advanced warehouse management. DOM selects the warehouse, and warehouse management handles picking within that warehouse. Rejection and rerouting: When a fulfillment location rejects an order line, the next DOM run can reassign it to another location.
