Microsoft Purview: Data Lifecycle Management-Legacy Teams retention policies covering Copilot will be treated as Teams-only
Existing Teams retention policies will no longer apply to Copilot interactions and will be scoped to Teams-only. Admins must review and reconfigure any retention policies intended to cover Copilot workloads separately.
Action required: Review existing Teams retention policies to determine if Copilot coverage was intended; create new retention policies if Copilot data governance is needed.
Microsoft's description
Some existing retention policies scoped to Microsoft Teams may currently also apply to Microsoft 365 Copilot interactions. As part of an upcoming change, these legacy Teams retention policies will be converted to—and treated as—Teams-only policies. They will no longer implicitly govern Copilot workloads.
